think spatially and stuff...

there was a comment made in my class yesterday evening that i found somewhat perplexing: some people just don't think spatially. is that kind of like colorblindness? i mean, i'm not talking about lack of depth perception, because i know that that is an actual medical condition... but do some people actually not understand space? see spatial qualities in, say, a rothko painting? maybe i'm being stupid/naive/daft, but i just can't imagine not perceiving space in two-dimensional media and the like...

Some people are just retarded, and there should be a place where they can gather once a year...like the spatial olympics.

I'm here via honestyrain, fun site. You know, back in the old days, when I was in college in the late 70's, I had a Psych professor actually say that men are better at spacial relationships and estimated distances than woman. And he proved it by having us all judged distances in the classroom. Of course, I did the best. Hmm, hanging out with too many men, or raised by a mathematician, engineer type dad? I just couldn't believe he had the nerve to state such a fact.
